How to Use Pressure Cooker/Rice Cooker 

A pressure cooker would be able to cook rice in about 5-10 minutes if you are using basmati and jasmine rice. Brown rice and wild rice may take about 20-25 minutes to cook. 

When it comes to how much water should be put into the pressure cooker when cooking rice, it is usually more water than the rice. There’s a measurement indicated on the inner pot for how much water should be added. It is usually 1 cup of rice to cups of water or 1:2 ratio.

How to Cook Rice using an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker/Rice Cooker

For white rice variety:

  • 2 cups white, basmati, or jasmine rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. 

If you want wild rice:

  • get 2 cups of wild rice
  • 3 cups of water

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter. 

You can also use 2 cups of long grain brown rice, 2 1/4 cups of water, 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt, and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. 

Instructions: 

  1. You will need to rinse the rice thoroughly. Put the rice on a strainer and rinse it through running water. 

  2. On the pressure cooker’s pot, combine the rice and other ingredients. Don’t worry if the butter will float. 

  3. Lock the lid and cook the rice on an Instant Pot pressure cooker under high settings. White rice can be cooked in 5 minutes, brown rice in 10 minutes and wild rice in 15 minutes. 

  4. Wait for 10 minutes for the pressure to be released naturally when the cooking time is up. 

  5. Uncover the lid of the Instant pot pressure cooker and use a fork to muddle up the rice. Serve the perfectly cooked rice while it’s hot.
